Monsters have babies too.
Baby monsters are even harder to find than the elusive "baby" pigeon. Very few folks can say that they've seen them, let alone created their portraits. I have been lucky. As you might imagine, monster parents can be a bit protective. Mothers in particular. They consider us (humans) more than a bit strange and potentially dangerous. It took most of my free time, lots of monster "treats" and carefully followed Monster Etiquette to befriend just a few of them. Even then, I felt a bit nervous and on edge as I made sketches of their most beloved offspring. It is always a good idea to remind oneself that monsters are ultimately unpredictable creatures, and should be given proper respect at all times.

Against a brilliant blue sky, with just a hint of mountains in the distance, a teeny baby monster trembles with uncertainty on its mothers scaly leg, grasping her long sharp claw for balance. It nervously stares (at me) with large bulging eyes, while the other hand is clamped firmly in its mouth. Bright scales of chartreuse, vivid orange and crimson red cover the body of this wee creature, accompanied by slender candy-cane-like curved horns atop its bald green head. Monster in a Teacup
Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip of two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

#Scrollbook photos from my animation work yesterday.
This was the most fascinating for the children: You can collect tiny scraps (paper or fabric) only because you like their colour or texture. And then you can value them, give them your own story with wild stitching.
I'm already thinking about children's workshops for our summer holiday program ...

Small scraps of saree silk and lace: I loved the pink-pea-green weaving and the acid yellowish green. So I collected the scraps, fixed them with yellow and purple thread.
One of my favourite fabric scraps, silk, green-pink weaving. I fixed it with intuitive stitching on paper from a used teabag. This book is also for reading with the hands: The silky touch, the smooth paper, the wild textures of the embroidery stitches.
A very small saree silk scrap. It's bright rosé with an ornamental print in purple and dark red. The wild stitches follow the ornament.

Hello fediverse solarpunks! We’re Solarpunk Presents Podcast, a podcast run on a shoestring budget by two lady solarpunks, one in Canada (@arielkroon) and one in Germany (@xtinadr@wandering.shop). We’re not great with technology, but we happen to both be PhDs from the opposite sides of the spectrum between STEM and Humanities/the Arts, and we’re united in our working towards solarpunk futures.

Our podcast is an interview-style podcast where we talk to guests and each other about various aspects of solarpunk, renewable energies, political action, and more. Often, our guests are people who wouldn’t label themselves as solarpunks, but are (and have been, often for years) quietly involved in working towards making the world a better place to live in. We strongly believe that once you get past the aesthetic and hype about renewables, solarpunk at its core promotes compassion, kinship with non-humans and humans alike, and grace for our fellow human beings as we all work together to survive on our shared planet.

A toy sailboat sits on a nightstand next to a window curtain and on that curtain is outer space with stars, moon, and spiral galaxy. All source materials were created by me using Paintshop Pro X4 (ancient by today's standards) and my own photos. In the paintshop file I have over 30+ layers. I created this back in 2014 - long before these annoying quick AI generation art emerged on the scene in 2022. I long for the days when people considered photo-manip mixed with digital art painstakingly created was not 'art' LOL. But seriously, I have spent years honing my skills and it is tiring to have audience (not your fault) doubt the creation because of the <bleep> ease of push a button technology for instant art creation. I don't know how many hours I spend to create this back in 2014 but I do remember it took about 8 days before I was satisfied with the final piece. Anyway, the attached behind the scenes video in comment section will be a rare behind the scenes look demonstrating the creation of my piece. I will not be doing much more of these as I feel it is akin to the magician revealing how they did their magic and in so doing it takes away from the magic of the scene. My REAL Imaginary Friend
Some say that friends must be actual physical beings to count as REAL. Why, I ask? I have REAL imaginary friends who are quite lovely and can be most helpful in a pinch. When I'm having a really bad day, need a bit of advice, or if I'm just feeling blue, my REAL imaginary friends are exactly the ones I want around for comfort. No complaining or whining about THEIR troubles. No attention sucking smart phones to distract them from listening to you. And, the best part is, you can call up the exact friend for listening or guidance when needed, instantly!
