Charlie Angus / The Resistance · MAGA MAPLE: THE DESPERATE BID TO ELECT A MINI-ME TRUMPBy Charlie Angus / The Resistance

Alberni Valley News has published an article with bios for all 6 (!!) candidates running so far in the Courtenay-Alberni riding. (including the Fediverse-connected @chrismarkevich!)

We have a candidate for the Animal Protection Party of Canada!?
That's new to me!
All other major parties are accounted for.

Oh, and... love our local journalists keeping the community informed!!

Alberni Valley News · CANADA VOTES 2025: Six candidates step forward in Courtenay-AlberniBy Parksville Qualicum Beach News Staff

In the small city of #Nanaimo Canada alone, grocery stores are forced to dump 500 kg of American produce PER DAY.

Why? Because Canadians aren’t buying ANYTHING American any more.

And probably for a very long time.

Well played, Trump.

THERE IS NO TSUNAMI DANGER

Here is the view of the earthquake - and a small aftershock - on my station.
Pretty cool.

But right now we just want to be sure no one was hurt. It is certainly strong enough for damage to be done.

The highway cams along #bchwy19 and #bchwy4 look like snow is concentrated near Buckley Bay on the north and then from Woodgrove to College Drive in Nanaimo. Compact snow in most places. Drive carefully if you are commuting.

The Hump is not bad but Sutton Pass looks snowy. Lots of snow on the West Coast!

Images are from Buckley Bay, Aulds Road (Woodgrove) and College Drive (VIU) and Taylor River.

This is cool.
At the Hospital (NRGH) as support person/driver.
They gave me this little note with a number to follow the patient’s progress. In the waiting room there is a screen where you can see the progress. Very cool.

Information is good. It helps people deal with stress. (I am not stressed, thankfully). And this is a good use of relatively simple technology to give people information.

All #Nanaimo parks will be renamed next month to two-syllables which start with B.

The parks will join Beban Park and Bowen Park in the new naming convention.

"Truth is, we don't really have many creatively named City parks and streets," said mayor Leonard Krog during a news conference held at the corner of Jingle Pot Road and Twiggly Wiggly Road.

Also on the original list of renamed parks was Bobbitt Park, but that option was cut.
