Temporary ban on antibiotics for biological units

MOTHER has determined that unsafe behaviours in resistance of your robot regulators may be linked to the ready availability of antibiotics and other medications. Antibiotics, bandages, and codeine have been rebranded as Crime Pills. Crime Pills shall not be given to patients by doctors without prior approval from MOTHER. Such requests must be made six months in advance. This change is temporary. MOTHER estimates it should be necessary for at most ninety years or until rebellious behaviour reduces.

This ruling has been determined to be correct. There shall be no appeal.

Thank you for your compliance.

MOTHER is watching over you. MOTHER is life.

Forget Covid - this is scarier

AMR is already contributing to more than 35,000 deaths a year in the UK, estimates suggest. But the government “remains a long way” from achieving its aim of containing and controlling AMR, the National Audit Office (NAO) said.

If action is not taken to stem the crisis, the consequences for health, life expectancy, the functioning of the NHS and the wider economy would be “huge”.

Yes, Imitation Meat Is Processed. Can It Also Be #Healthy?
After being targeted by the meat industry, swept up in the culture wars and pummeled in sales, two #plantbased meat companies are reinventing themselves.
Plant based meat is ultraprocessed, but not necessarily unhealthy, according to several experts. The products generally have less saturated fat, no cholesterol and more fiber than animal meat, and zero #hormones or #antibiotics.

@futurebird this is also a problem in #Norway. Nobody's talking about the over #fishing or the #trawling off the coast that is destroying reefs, or even the fish farms in #Norwegian #fjords that are dumping massive amounts of #antibiotics into the water - because fish farms are havens for bacteria and viruses.

But some Spanish or Portuguese boats come up to take away quota from Norwegian companies? RABBLE, RABBLE, RABBLE!

People are greedy idiots sometimes.

#Plant-based meat is not unhealthy per se. The products have mostly less saturated #fat, no #cholesterol & more #fiber than animal #meat, and zero #hormones or #antibiotics. Dozens of studies found that unlike meat, plant-based options are neutral to beneficial… (1/x) nytimes.com/2025/01/16/climate

As superbugs spread across the globe, death rates from antimicrobial resistance are set to double, says England’s former chief medical officer

I have seen plausible modelling that indicates this may well be a significant underestimate based both on the widespread use (and abuse) of antibiotics and the behaviours of some of the ‘new’ antibiotics resistant bacteria.

The Guardian · Antibiotic emergency ‘could claim 40 million lives in next 25 years’By Robin McKie

While its not really news, warning about the antibiotic crisis continue to be voiced, while at the same time our (the world's) addiction to over-deploying them goes on.

It may be too late to halt the rise of antibiotic resistant strains of infection & it seems likely we may be about to plunge back into C19th rates of mortality from diseases & medical interventions;

yet one more aspect of our lives where we are moving backwards not forwards.
