Did a background study in Krita based on a screenshot from Cyberteam in Akihabara (1998). I really love the painterly details from retro anime backgrounds, even the little imperfections remind you that humans made it.

A strange abstract painting of space. It has been hit with a filter that makes it appear liquid; many of the colors run and bleed into each other, though not as starkly as a pixel-sorted image. The image has also been hit with a gradient map. Its colors show off a display of dark grays and ambers. Many amber-colored stars cover the image.

Pixels of the same hue are grouped together but the sort did not account for lightness, meaning many dark pixels are incorporated. It looks very textured, almost like granite.
