Tom Ruen<p>I tested <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/ChatGPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChatGPT</span></a>'s knowledge of regular <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/polyhedra" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>polyhedra</span></a>, including improper forms like hosohedron {2,n}, and dihedra {n,2}, &amp; topological petrial (skew reg).<br>It made me wonder about a double-cover cube, {8/2,3} octagons as double-wrap squares. I tried drawing as a regular map on a hyperbolic plane, 6 octagons of {8,3}. I counted 24 edges, 16 vertices, so really a double-cover cube, but hard to see how the <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/regular_map" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>regular_map</span></a> connects {8,3}_(a,b), walk a, turn, walk b to repeat on plane. What are a,b?</p>
Henry Segerman<p>At this month's Illustrating Math Discord Social, <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/@nanma80" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>nanma80</span></a></span> suggested that every net of the icosahedron is also a net of the great icosahedron. <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/@saulsch" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>saulsch</span></a></span> and I made a "proof by video" that this is true.
