Random Host 🐕<p>If anyone else is experiencing seemingly random unexplained "critical error" crashes in <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/SteamVR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SteamVR</span></a> on <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> with error codes like "0xc0000409" involving "vrserver.exe" in the Windows "Application" event logs:</p><p>Check the "System" event log for "Kernel-General" events around the same time (about a second) the crash happened.</p><p>In my case, Windows did a time sync with "time.windows.com" and adjusted the system time forwards. Both <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Steam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Steam</span></a> VR crashes I experienced the last couple of days correlated with one of these time sync events.</p><p>This doesn't look like a coincidence.</p><p>I don't know what to do about it yet other than turning time sync off in Windows 11, if that's even possible.</p><p>But maybe we can somehow get the word out there so <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Valve" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Valve</span></a> and <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> can maybe take a look at it?</p><p>I'd prefer my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/VRChat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VRChat</span></a> sessions to not be interrupted by a poorly implemented time sync.</p>
