Venus and Mercury in evening twilight - two views.

In bright twilight the sky colors are strong and saturated. Only Venus and Mercury are visible.

In darker twilight the sky colors are subdued, but some stars are visible. (And with the planets closer to the horizon I switched to landscape orientation.)

Venus is upper right. Mercury is near the left edge of the frame and lower than Venus. Sky gradient colors range from orange/red to dark blue.

Another nice evening glimpse of #Mercury & #Venus in the dusk sky, this time looking west along the Neckar from the Alte Brücke in #Heidelberg.

Venus is brighter to the upper right; Mercury is along a diagonal to the left & down from there, just above the thin clouds.

As seen near the end of today’s 55km cycle – sunny & warm for early March, but chilling rapidly after sunset. I also found some Bärlauch (wild garlic) out towards Ladenburg 😋

First photo is taken during the 'blue hour'

In the second photo the planets sink closer to the horizon and some red hues appear in the bottom of the frame.

The third photo is almost in full night, but some dark red is still there along the bottom of the frame.

A deep blue twilight sky. It's dark enough that earthshine on the moon's disk is obvious. Venus is upper right. Mercury, fainter, is near the bottom and a bit left of center.
In darker twilight the planets are closer to the west horizon. Some red hues are along the bottom of the frame.
It's nearly full night and the sky is pretty dark. A good number of stars of Pisces are visible. Subdued brick-red hues are in the bottom of the frame.

On the evening of the 28th I'll try to get a view of the 1-day-old crescent moon near Mercury. That will be a bit of a challenge shortly after sunset. (Venus is super bright and high...a helpful guide to where to look) See screenshot.

1 March, the moon will be much easier to see, and close to brilliant Venus.

I use Stellarium software to figure out which evenings have interesting groupings of the moon and bright planets.

I was building my portfolio last night and came across this photo of a piece from my 1st solo show in 2022. As I've explained before, I can't get this glaze to work anymore so I won't be making pieces like this anytime soon.

The pitcher & basin set resembles Botticelli’s #Venus standing in a clam shell. However, the intention of this piece was simply to honor #water as a ritual element with spiritual significance, not to reference the painting.
