Steven Lawson PhotographyIt was -4C under a grey sky when I arrived at the riverbank this morning with my X-T4 and three vintage OM Zuiko lenses. The 28mm and 50mm mostly stayed in my bag as I used the f3.5 135mm to capture these images of water surging over the falls. Manually focusing a vintage lens in these conditions wasn't easy but the Zuiko glass produced some really nice results. Steven Lawson PhotographyVintage lenses paired with modern digital cameras can produce some lovely results, as I've discovered with my 50-something year-old Helios 44m f2 and X-T4. Yes, manual focusing is tricky and, yes, the lens has weak contrast, but I'm really enjoying the way it renders scenes and it seems especially suited to black and white. Focus it's quite tricky, very narrow focus range even closing aperture, so it's better open it to have more and better light. Focus is "moving camera front and back" guided by "focus peak" info shown on the screen.
