Pretty much since he was a toddler, I've been always worried in the lack interest in physical toys from my son (and too much interest in things involving screens, despite me restricting their availability).

However, lately, he got into Beyblade, and I welcome this newfound passion with open arms. I bought him a bunch, he asked Santa a few more and a few more are coming.

But lately, I noticed him playing less with them and more with... erasers!!! See, at school, with his friends during recess, they have designed some sort of eraser battles (a bit like billiad or bocce) and now that's his new favorite game.

Sure, it's not a screen, but buddy, I almost spent 200 € in Beyblade these past two months... You could have asked erasers for Christmas.
(well, I play with them too, it's actually way more fun than I imagined, so it's okay, they're not completely gathering dust)

I think my son is becoming addicted to Beyblade and I may be in the process of becoming a fan too. And I approve.

Let me explain.
First of all, Beyblade is a toy/manga/anime about a fighting sport using spinning tops, basically. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyblade

I was aware of their existence, but never paid much attention to them. My son started watching the anime a few weeks ago, and never shown much interest in the toys until last week.

We found a starter box on sale and we bought it to give it a try.
And he's become an instant fan, and his addictive side (which often worries me) may play its part soon (and for once I'm not worried, because like a lot of kids his age, his main addiction is screens, and I'm sad that he's never expressed a lot of interest in the physical toys he has).

Now, he asked me to play with him, and while the fights are a little quick in my opinion (but I mean, they're spinning tops, they can only turn for so long while hitting each other) I found it to be a lot of fun and even more important, it's a game where we can have fun together.

Because, while we play together to a bunch of video games, when we play to a board game together, two things happen: either I play the proper way, but of course, that means he'll lose almost all the time and he won't have fun, or I let him win (what I usually do) and I get quickly bored.

With those, while I'm sure there is some strategy involved and to be learned, it's mostly random and anyone has equal chances to win or lose, and we've had a lot of fun during the weekend, and now I want to buy more (because the tops have specialties, some are designed for attack, some for defense, etc)
