Okay, thanks to several suggestions and an excellent local specialty bike shop, we're going to try these for a little while. Required shifting the brakes and shifters inboard by about 5mm on each side, but that should be okay. I may still play with the rake angle on the new barinds.

Guardian today: "Cyclists who kill pedestrians could be jailed for life under new law in England and Wales"

"The offence of causing death by dangerous cycling would be brought into line with driving laws..."

Meanwhile... drivers get 14 months for killing cyclists. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm24r3

Checked off "bicycled to a food truck in the dark and got dinner" (on a technicality) on the #BikeTooter achievement badge list.

(Technicality... on a college campus, so no dodging drivers in the dark)

Going to need some more and bigger bike lanes in Cambridge, haven't even gotten close to peak bike season yet and I was probably the 20th person stopped, with half a dozen more behind me.

My hobby is to count bike vs car clearance rates in situations like this, assuming my #20 count was right, that was 20 people on bikes getting thru the intersection in the same time as 4 cars, in half the space, so roughly 10 times more efficient use of space.

ATTN: #Boston cyclists

#CriticalMass Boston rides again FRIDAY, 25 April! Meet at Copley Square 6:30 PM, ride at 7 PM (bring your lights!)

Join a mass of cyclists in letting the other road users that "We aren't blocking traffic, we ARE traffic!"

The route this month is a throwback to 2003, a bridges tour of the greater metro area. Perfect for the bike-loving graph theorist in your life, and sure to be a blast to ride.

Over 70K people attended the 4-day Celebration of Cycling in Monterey County this month, Sea Otter Classic.

Our Bike Buzz, Special Edition shares the viewpoints of some of those people, in four posts — including youth, women, first-time and long-time attendees, people speaking languages other than English, and people visiting from other countries:

I am in #Bordeaux and I am blown away. Other than in the Netherlands and Copenhagen, I have not seen so many #bikes in a city. I counted on average 10 cyclists a minute for a while when sitting on a bench along the Garonne. All racks are full, there appear to be at least 3 bike share systems. The shared bus/bike lane makes me nervous as do the very fast motorized bikes. Also, virtually no spandex/lycra.

Quick review of #BikeShare in Pittsburgh, which is called POGOH & uses PBSC (owned by Lyft, sigh), docked system with mix of ebikes & non. The ebikes are ok: 3 speeds, one constantly-on level of pedal assist, mostly upright posture, easy to adjust seat height, awkward front basket. Locating, checking out, & returning bikes was easy. $6 per 30min for ebikes. I paid $30 for a month acct that incl 30min rides & then $3 for each addl 30min, maybe could have skipped that. #BikeTooter

Finally in Czech Republic, Brussels 16:30 - Domažlice 8:00

15,5 hours of travel, too long transfer time in Munich - nearly 4 hours. But it was without a problem.

Still didn't got much sleep, but I have to say that the ICE trains are really nice and comfortable.
