The people that are less cognitively aware & have lower levels of honesty-humility are extremist side choosers. In fact, you have to work at not simply choosing sides, because #nepotism is an evolutionary adaptation.

#Religion? Choose a side! #Politics! Which side are you on? #War? Where do your loyalties lie? Wife or Husband arguing with a stranger? Whom do you side with? regardless of whose wrong or whose right?

"Common sense" is what you invoke when you cannot support your beliefs with either "real arguments" or "real data."

Common sense is the noise that comes out of you when all you've got is the vague sense that you must be right--somehow?--but even *you* don't know why you think that.

Common sense is a slogan for shutting down arguments without having to know or prove anything.

This is a really good paper about, why you hear so often that the "kids these days" are so much worse than earlier generations. science.org/doi/full/10.1126/s

They identify 2 main reasons
"A person-specific tendency to notice the limitations of others where one excels and a memory bias projecting one’s current qualities onto the youth of the past. When observing current children, we compare our biased memory to the present and a decline appears."
