tl;dr - a Qidi Plus4's SSR (which we have been warning about since day freaking 1) finally blew and caught fire, with serious consequences.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: do not buy Qidi printers, don't suggest others buy Qidi printers. This isn't just sloppy engineering, this is outright dangerous.

Decided to print one of these today. Definitely came out great: combination of the extrusional consistency of ABS and variable layer height really did work here. I scaled up to 150% of the original size, as I found the original too small.

Working on trying to get my Arbiter Miniatures Legion of the Undead Skirmish army painted up. I'm slow, and not very good, but I do enjoy the time unplugging from things and making them more enjoyable to play on the battlefield.

Arbiter Miniatures Legion of the Undead models primed and in progress of being painted, set up in model painting holders drying for the next color.

Biggest ABS print on record for me. Took just shy of four hours, and is basically the full Z height of my printer.

Not a flawless print, due to a noticeable tear in the perimeters (which you can just about see), unfortunately, but no warping or delamination.

A large lid-shaped part held in one hand. It is much bigger than that hand, and is printed out of a grey plastic. There is a small visible mar on one of the walls on the left hand side. There is a large kudu-like design embedded into the biggest visible flat face.

A hotend 'blob of death' on a desk, surrounded by filament fragments with bits of silicone sock embedded in them.

A Fysetc H36 toolhead PCB mounted on the back of a Sherpa Mini's motor. It is separated from the motor by some metal standoffs, and is connected to a mounting plate, with a strain relief part containing some holes for zipties.

Do not buy Qidi printers. Do not encourage others to buy Qidi printers. This is absolutely unacceptable on a printer that costs USD800. The fact that _busywaiting_ can kill the MCU is just beyond absurd.

Re-opening as there appears to be a misunderstanding. I believe that there has been a misunderstanding. xindi will still wait for events, but it releases the CPU until the OS wakes the xindi proces...

On the advice of @mia , and with the experience of @amd , I have decided to finally get Catboat-1 running again by rebuilding its toolhead. I'm going with the Xol, using the Tap carriage and the MeowXol faceplate. Now I have to order some parts (in transit now), but I can print the shell at least!

Overall, _super_ impressed with the design of these parts, especially their supports.

An assembled Xol toolhead, using the MeowXol faceplate, without any non-printed components, viewed from an angle and slightly above. The toolhead is mostly red, with a black extruder mount and a black paw on the faceplate.

TIL that I'm out of black ABS. Since Catboat-1 is due upgrades (and a rewiring), I need black ABS.

Paramount3D do not ship free to me anymore. I _love_ how NZ supply chains are a fucking constantly-moving target...

Even if you ignore the comments, the fact that heatcreep is this much of a problem on such an expensive machine, in _PETG_ of all things, is rather sad, and typical of Creality.
