A bit more #BirdPhotography for you all. Took a #Wander around #CosmestonLakes today. A bit muddy and slippery in places but it was good to see signs of spring with trees budding and blackthorn in flower. Plenty of #Birds around including these 4;

- A #GreatCrestedGrebe
- A #GreenWoodpecker
- A #Cormorant desperately trying to work out how to swallow a large fish
- A charismatic #Waxwing

Great Crested Grebe: A smart, sleek looking bird swims toward the camera. It has a white throat, rust coloured sides and dark back. It has a white face with a sharp, dagger shaped beak. A dark crest folded back across the top of it's head and long rust coloured feathers on the sides of it's head
Green Woodpecker: A bird clings to a moss covered tree trunk. It has a pale coloured underside with a dark green back and wings edged with black and white bars. The green extends over the top of its head, while its face is black, fading to pale coloured cheeks. It's beak is pointed and dagger shaped
Fishing Cormorant: A large bird sits low in the water as it struggles with a large fish. The bird is mostly an oily black colour with bright white cheeks and throat and flashes of yellow and red at the base of it's beak.
Bohemian Waxwing: A smart looking bird perches at the top of a budding branch. It is a grayish brown with subtle peach blushing around its black mask. The wings have 2 distinctive white rectangular patches and red waxlike tips on the secondaries. The undertail is rusty and the tail is tipped in yellow
