Ngl, one of the downsides of #LinuxAudio is fewer plugins with pretty GUIs that make me believe my music sounds better now.
Oh the contradictions of being a music tech nerd.

I've recently done some minor tweaks on linuxdaw.org here and there.
Today I added a "Compact" toggle, which allows for a more compact view if you just wanna focus on the screenshots.
Orchestools Piano S by Ilir Bajri - free, #opensource #VST #plugin that works on Linux (tested in #ReaperDAW).
Tons of settings, stable, fast, great sound.
I spent a lot of time searching for something similar.

Yesterday, I had my first #crash in #bitwigstudio on #linuxaudio in the 5 years I've been using #linux exclusively for #musicproduction. And I think it was a special one. Because, while the audio playback continued, I was thrown to #gdm login.
I'm posting this because I thought it was funny. Because, other than that, my #manjaro #gnome system is #rocksolid.

Anyone have any experience using the Tascam Model 2400 as an audio interface with Linux?
If you have instrument plugins or favorite patches that you are worried about losing someday, multisample the patches you want. Multisampled wav files that have been properly looped and named will load into almost any sampler, and will last forever.
The lifespan of electronics is seldom > 13 years—even if stored & unused. I’ve come up with 2 strategies for myself to reduce costs/waste with music equipment.
1. Software is cheaper than hardware, & companies often allow you to install from an old machine to a new machine. Focus on software tools! Computers are more repairable than other audio hardware.
2. Modularize your studio with lots of inexpensive hardware, rather than a single expensive device.
The #linuxdaw library continues to grow, reflecting the development of #linuxaudio as a platform. Not only is the range of native #linux #plugin (s) growing, but also the maturity of #pipewire and #linuxdesktop itself. Truly amazing times for #musicproduction with this popular #opensource #operatingsystem.

PD: @alf Nice addition with the #clap, #lv2, #vst, etc. icons!
PipeWire 1.4 has been released with UMP (MIDI2) support, Bluetooth support for BAP broadcast, JACK control API, system service for pipewire-pulse, RISC-V CPU support

I happened upon an article about the degradation of electronics. It seems, based upon what I read, that electronics — especially those electronics with electrolytic capacitors on the board, have a finite shelf life, whether you use the device or not.
This news is quite sobering, considering the amount of equipment I’ve had in storage for the last 20 years.
OK, I've traced it back, and 1.15.0 is what breaks Benben when both of these conditions are true: CRYSTAL_WORKERS
is 4 or less, and the remote control feature is active. When these are true, then Benben will stutter really badly, to the point that it's not listenable at all.
Open ticket, with workaround information:
https://chiselapp.com/user/MistressRemilia/repository/benben/tktview/17ae9a7fab6de3f711c7ea3e40a87d0c4e6dd35e
Normally Benben modifies CRYSTAL_WORKERS
in fun main
before the Crystal runtime is initialized, so this doesn't matter. But apparently the Crystal devs changed the way the runtime works and so workaround doesn't work anymore.

@markus Although you're certainly right that it will take a couple of years before #linuxaudio will be on par with macOS or Windows, my Linux based #musicproduction setup is already more than capable, comfortable and enjoyable enough for me personally, even unrivaled in certain areas.
And while the #linuxdesktop experience is getting even better on a regular basis, I'll get the gift of welcoming new vendors to #linux and enjoying new Linux toys (not only for my music production) regularly.
On #linux, do you prefer to install audio #plugin (s) manually, with a graphical installer or with an install.sh shell script?
Personally, I like shell script installers, I don't mind installing manually either, whereas I really don't like graphical installers.
One thing I'm really glad though is that on Linux we don't have those horrible "download and install applications" the big plugin vendors are sporting on macOS and Windows.

With this template, SFZ is as expressive as any other format. It has all the features needed for future-proofing one's sample instrument library. And one need not lose their sample collections the next time a sampler company goes out of business, kills their product, or encrypts their libraries.

Now anyone can easily write expressive SFZ instruments! Any user can create their basic SFZ file, and then extend it with powerful expression without needing to know how to code any of that powerful expression!

This is exactly what has been done! GitHub developer kinwie quietly created templates for this and stored them for everyone in GitHub at this URL:

But, what if someone created a template that everyone could use? What if all a SFZ creator had to do was append this template to the top of the SFZ text file that the instrument creator defined? What if this template not only made the SFZ instrument MIDI CC capabile, but also provided GUI controls to the Sforzando or Sfizz plugin? Wouldn't this make SFZ more expressive?
