Finally! Our new Discovering Dinosaurs gallery opens to the public tomorrow, April 1st, at 11am!
This coincides with the launch of a new "pay once visit all year" entrance fee into Wollaton Hall. £15 per adult, children free (ages 0–15).
That provides unlimited access to the Nottingham Natural History Museum, including the new dinosaur displays, for 12 months.
Fossil lynx jaw and partial skull from Pleasley, Nottinghamshire, in the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall @GeorgeTheGorilla. It’s a historical figured specimen, usually on display, but currently on loan to the University of Nottingham for analysis.
@jonty oh hai, friend!

Bird skeletons! On their way to a new display in our Discovering Dinosaurs gallery, which is launching in April (later than originally planned).
This ichthyosaur model sculpted and painted by the fantastic @BobNicholls is going up right now! We're just trying to perfect the angle...
Here I am under the T. rex skeleton at #WollatonHall with the trophy I won this week for my book 'The Tyrannosaur's Feathers'!

I'm usually the one doing the research, but this time I'm the research subject...
Here's a short documentary - 'Who is George the Gorilla' -about me by the University of Nottingham: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgdUTnDb13I
Preparing some herbarium sheets for display in our new dinosaur gallery. All of these plant groups – a fern, cycad, and horsetails – were around during dinosaur times.
Installation of this new gallery has been a little delayed but we're planning to open in October if all goes to plan.
Curator @AdamStuartSmith holds aloft a replica of a flying Dimorphodon pterosaur skeleton.
We're trying to work out the best position for it in the new gallery, under construction at the #NottNatHist Museum, Wollaton Hall

Our new 'Discovering Dinosaurs' gallery is taking shape. The centrepiece T. rex skeleton will be striding through a replica of its own Montana dig site.
The replica excavation is being constructed by @Birdhousetaxidermy and team. The bones in the dig site are 3D prints of the original fossils.

Balance and poise. It's what curators are best known for ...right?
Today @WitcherClo helped me to fill a museum case with an array of Oxford Clay fossils. Part of a temporary display we're working on to show the journey of prehistoric sea creatures from Jurassic Sea Floor to Museum Store.

Remember fellow sauropod.winners, a sauropod is for life, not just for Christmas.
@Ripley Yes, that's a nice one! Here's a better view of it. #NottNatHist
