Someone said that #pota #ParksOnTheAir activations on 160m won’t work. Someone said that no one does that. I guess they were wrong. :)

This was a couple of weeks ago with @DK4HAA @dc1tc an other operator and one trainee. We’ve had a full length dipole approx 7m up in the trees. Loads of p2p since other #draussenfunker were also activating.

I'm going to be in Montreal in about 3 months and of course immediately started thinking about doing some #POTA! There are a few downtown "historical sites" but they appear to consist of just a building. The Mount Royal Regional Park (CA-0511) seems like the most obvious option, but it doesn't get activated very often. Why might that be?

It was a bit nerve wracking, but I made my first handful of CW contacts today, doing some POTA hunting.

I'm sure I violated a bunch of unspoken procedures, but very grateful for the other hams who helpfully slowed down to sub-10 words per minute for me.

I guess I should send a mail QSO card to the op who took my very first CW call, that might be nice.

A little beach #POTA again this afternoon.

The sun is out. The temps are climbing. But that wind would not shut up! I got about 13 contacts after a peaceful bike ride out to the park.

It was a great ride and a lot of fun!

Good day of ham radio progress! I just got my first FT8 QSO confirmation on QRZ (of 8), and also picked up MS on SSB towards QRZ WAS, leaving just 2 states for that goal... And hopefully I'll have my first POTA FT8 contact confirmed as well.

I'm having more fun with FT8 than I thought I would too, so big bonus points there.
