...and he said that Simmel was an author he'd only recently come to & found difficult to decipher. Do other folk in sociology or social & human sciences more generally feel the same way? I feel like we all have exposure to high levels of #Durkheim, #Weber & Marx as part of our basic training, but not Simmel. Is he just too dense for all but enthusiasts to bother with? Or is the brilliance of the thought not enough to justify wading through the morass of sentences? /4 END
