Ride Theory
From an unlabeled personal #ViewMaster reel, most likely taken by someone who worked at the View-Master factory in the 1950s. Possibly my favorite reel in my collection. I don't know what the event is -- maybe a holiday party at the factory? (The windows look similar to another reel I own labeled "Shop".) Church event? (I doubt it -- few church recreation rooms have a Coke machine.) Who knows? Anyway, who wouldn't like to look at well-dressed people in the #1950s playing #PingPong?

I'm reposting the image of the guy holding the 3D camera, since it was the last shot on this reel.

A guy who looks a lot like Columbo playing Ping-Pong. Mostly, it's the brown, nondescript suit he's wearing. He's dressed up, though -- he's not as rumpled as Columbo. But if you pictured a young Peter Falk as Columbo, you've pretty much got him. Circa 1950s, probably. Stereoscopic, parallel view.

For Christmas, I was given an antique Underwood & Underwood Stereoscope, with a set of stereocards.

Imagine a sort of 1900s VR world tour.

It's a bit like a time machine, dropping you into a 3D scene from over a century ago!

The U&U cards were staged, shot, and manufactured as commercial products, but in amongst them are some handmade stereos. I assume they were shot by the original owner...
