I'm not what you might call in prime condition, I'm 68 years old & I have #HealthIssues. I am a #HeartAttack and #TripleBypass Surgery survivor back in 2018, left with a #HeartCondition.
I have #ChronicKidneyDisease coupled with a troublesome #Prostate that interferes with my #Bladder meaning I have a permanent #Catheter.
My #BloodPressure can get a little out of whack, I can also fall into #Anxiety or #Depression but not like I used to. Finally I have #Arthritis at the base of my Spine.

PSA isn't approved for good reason as a routine screening test in the British Health Service - although men over 50 can request their doctor to do one (most doctors would only do one alongside (before) a rectal examination).
It's an excellent test for monitoring the progression of known prostate cancer and its treatment, but it can be raised in a huge number of other non-cancer situations. It is not a diagnostic test.
The gold standard test is still a digital rectal examination by someone who's been trained to spot the signs of cancer. This can be followed up with an MRI if there's any suspicious findings.
Sorry, but I fear that the use of PSA as a screening tool is a way of making money in a profit driven healthcare system.

I'm about to have my 5th round of chemotherapy for advanced metstatic prostate cancer. A close friend has had surgery to remove theirs today, and another friend in the USA had theirs removed on Thursday.
If you are 50+, then FOR THE LOVE OF WHATEVER DEITY YOU DO OR DON'T HAVE please get a PSA test.

It's been a while since my previous instance got shafted by spammers and started being defederated & blocked, and then the one I was going to move to also took a nosedive in uptime terms.
So here I am again.
I still have advanced #metastatic #prostate #cancer but since then it transpires that #SirChrisHoy has selfishly announced that he, too, has the same one except his is slightly more advanced than mine, because of course it is (this is of course ever so slightly light-hearted).
Achievement unlocked.
Radiation treatment is done.

Got another offer of free #prostate screening as part of a study. Last time they checked my blood and then they threw me out of the study. "Sorry, but we only want subjects who show signs of eventually having prostate problems". But I'm on this one too!
Yesterday, at the age of 57 (I'm 57 all year, not just yesterday), I discovered green tea.
I'd always heard of it, but something in my head told me if was yuk, so I avoided it. But I read it's good for the #prostate (see the 57 years old bit 
) so gave it a try.
It's actually really nice. So it's replaced my English tea habit.
