@sergio_101 I've sent you a msg, let see if it works.
I think i have a working #HomeBBS on VHF #PacketRadio.
If someone wants to send me a bbs message, that would be awesome. My address is:
KB8QPT@KD8FTR.#NEOH.OH.USA.NOAM
if you post your address, I'll try sending you a message.
thanks!
@sergio_101 Maybe some aprs filter can show only those stations active in packet/bbs?
So, I am finally updating my #GeminiCapsule #Gemlog .
This time, it's about getting my #PacketRadio station put back up for the first time since like 1992. it works!
But this posting makes me wonder about the present state of the #Gemini protocol. More later.

Just casually playing with old #ham #msdos #packetradio software #GraphicPacket, my favorite in the 90's, in a #DosBoxX window.
I'm thrown 30 years back and thrilled to have managed to make it work with a #KISS modem and #TFKISS resident driver (a NordLink TNC2 "TheFirmware" emulator for MSDOS).
Btw, I am preaparing some real hardware (Pentium 233) to make that work on, with a legendary 1200 bauds packet-radio #BayCom modem...
My mobile APRS Digipeter doesn’t look suspicious at all… once up and running it pulls 0.11 Amps. With that 4.5Amp battery it should last 36 hours at 90% efficiency give or take. I can’t imagine trying to take this on a plane! #bioenno #aprs #digipeter #digirig #amateurradio #hamradio #packetradio #direwolf #photo
Is here anyone in my #hamradio bubble who can connect my #packetradio BBS to his PR-BBS via S&F? And of course, node linking would be great too.
So far I’m liking the output of the APRS Foundations steps to document the protocol. I finally learned the correct format of the ACK message! Thank you for pulling together this report of info! :ack001
And thank you for John Langner (WB2OSZ) for documenting the protocol!
A long time ago, I found several files that discussed connecting the #C64 to #hamradio equipment, typically via the user port. What sorts of things could you do with a C64 and a ham radio back in the day? The details are lost on me, this really was a few decades ago and the files tended to have ASCII diagrams. #retrocomputing #packetbbs #packetradio
I think it's worth me doing a new #Introduction:
Hi! I'm Chris! I write code, I make things, and I parent.
My posts are generally about a few key areas: #Programming, #HamRadio, #TTRPG and #Parenting.
As far as programming, I mostly focus on #DotNet #CSharp professionally, with a smattering of #WebDev using #TypeScript. For my "not professional" development, I do a lot of #GameDev in #Godot (usually using C#, though not always!), and I adore #FunctionalProgramming, particularly in #FSharp, but also in many other languages! I stream software and game development on Twitch at https://twitch.tv/b4ux1t3. The schedule on there is not currently correct (January 2025), but should be soon.
When it comes to ham radio, I mostly focus on #DigitalModes, though I do a little bit of #POTA and #SOTA (well, I want to, anyway!). I'm a big user of #APRS and #PacketRadio. I try to be active on #YSF via the inimitable KJ7OMO@mastodon.radio's (edit: removed the mention here to prevent accidental mentions!) pride radio network, though mostly I listen. If you'd like my callsign, feel free to DM me. I do not list it publicly, but I'm not shy about handing it out in a more private setting.
Regarding TTRPG, I'm mostly a forever GM who runs #ShadowdarkRPG, #BladesInTheDark, #MorkBorg and #Mausritter, though I love most #OSR games and often mix and match rules and stuff. I don't _hate_ #DnD, #dnd5e or otherwise, it's just not the sort of thing I enjoy running. I also GM professionally on https://startplaying.games/gm/b4ux1t3!
Outside of that, some of my posts are about #Crochet, #BookBinding, #Woodworking, #Mathematics, #Linguistics, #TokiPona and, well, lots of other things
I have lots of links in my profile if you'd like to know more about me!
Oh I still own my Montreal Packet radio modem I built in 1980? on a 24 pin card for an AIM6502 I wrote my version of the Packet Assembly Disassembly PAD in 6502 assmebler and we communicated with the Montreal packet radio folks via a repeater.
Yes there are EXAR modem parts on that board.
AX.25 - da war doch was, stimmt - #PacketRadio. Man hat sich mal dem AX.25 Stack im #Linux Kernel beschäftigt :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rZWLZEMkgE
Small update to the APRSMap feature of my #PacketRadio Client. And thanks to DF3KO, I have a #AIOC to continue the testing of my #AGWPE implementation. #aprs #hamradio
And here comes a small update to the APRSMap. #hamradio #packetradio #aprs
I need some help from thr #linux and #hamradio communities :)
I am trying to find out what happened to the personal message system app /usr/sbin/pms that is possibly related to ax25 packages?
I am in the process of setting up ax25-node and one of the things I would like to have is a personal message system for people to leave me messages, without the need of running a full-blown BBS.
The only information I can find however is a vk2ktj reference in AX.25 HOWTO , along with variants of,
https://tldp.org/HOWTO/AX25-HOWTO/x1688.html
Searching of packages, a25 source and local files, I have been unable to find this app. I think it might no longer be available?
If there are is anyone who might be able to give me some clues on where to find this, I would love to hear from you.
Now everyone can set the background color of the terminal as they like it. #packetradio #hamradio
Last weekend I added an address book with "quickconnect" functionality and started supporting fileupload via autobin. #packetradio #hamradio
Currently I am developing a cross-platform #PacketRadio client. Supported are Hardware TNC's via Hostmode and Soft/Sound Modems via AGW Server. The software is OpenSource and will be released next year. As you can see from the screenshot, the communication works perfectly. ANSI color codes are also supported. I will publish the features step by step in the coming months. Of course, I am also happy to receive feature requests from the Radio community. #hamradio #ax25
I had to break out the hex editor today as I just couldn't take it any longer. #packetradio #msdos
