Hop-on, hop-off.

Mehr Info im Wiki: campaignwiki.org/wiki/Valravn/ – oder pingt mich gern hier an. 🙃

At 8:30 PM Eastern, I _will not_ be going live to work on #FeedzApp!

I will, however, be going live to start building the #FoundryVTT module for my #Mausritter and #ShadowdarkRPG adventure, The Foxhole.

This'll be fun, because I have _literally no idea what I'm doing_.

This will involve everything from, apparently, JavaScript to _art_!

Join the fun!

Aaaaand now I have organized my dice into sets so that I can play whatever I need at a moment's notice.

A is the dice necessary to play #DCCRPG, d3 all the way up through d30.
B is all the dice necessary to quickly make a character in DCC; that is, six sets of 3d6 (for stats) and 5d12 (for copper)
C is a metric boatload of tiny d6 for #BladesInTheDark
D is for general D20 shenanigans, mostly #ShadowdarkRPG and #MorkBorg (Sigh, and YES, #DnD5e, look, it's what people know)

Once I get my GM kits (notebook, a few one-shot, single-page adventures, character sheets) ready for each of the games. . .I could literally do pop-up #TTRPG sessions at the local library at a moment's notice. Not to mention I can maybe find some more in-person groups to play with (I've been almost exclusively online for a long time now)

I think it's worth me doing a new #Introduction:

Hi! I'm Chris! I write code, I make things, and I parent.

My posts are generally about a few key areas: #Programming, #HamRadio, #TTRPG and #Parenting.

As far as programming, I mostly focus on #DotNet #CSharp professionally, with a smattering of #WebDev using #TypeScript. For my "not professional" development, I do a lot of #GameDev in #Godot (usually using C#, though not always!), and I adore #FunctionalProgramming, particularly in #FSharp, but also in many other languages! I stream software and game development on Twitch at twitch.tv/b4ux1t3. The schedule on there is not currently correct (January 2025), but should be soon.

When it comes to ham radio, I mostly focus on #DigitalModes, though I do a little bit of #POTA and #SOTA (well, I want to, anyway!). I'm a big user of #APRS and #PacketRadio. I try to be active on #YSF via the inimitable KJ7OMO@mastodon.radio's (edit: removed the mention here to prevent accidental mentions!) pride radio network, though mostly I listen. If you'd like my callsign, feel free to DM me. I do not list it publicly, but I'm not shy about handing it out in a more private setting.

Regarding TTRPG, I'm mostly a forever GM who runs #ShadowdarkRPG, #BladesInTheDark, #MorkBorg and #Mausritter, though I love most #OSR games and often mix and match rules and stuff. I don't _hate_ #DnD, #dnd5e or otherwise, it's just not the sort of thing I enjoy running. I also GM professionally on startplaying.games/gm/b4ux1t3!

Outside of that, some of my posts are about #Crochet, #BookBinding, #Woodworking, #Mathematics, #Linguistics, #TokiPona and, well, lots of other things

I have lots of links in my profile if you'd like to know more about me!

If you're interested in playing #ShadowdarkRPG for a one shot next Sunday, this is my first ever professional GM session: startplaying.games/adventure/c

Not that I want to guilt anyone into playing, but every penny of whatever I make from this is going toward spring and summer clothes for my son. :)

StartPlayingPlay Mutants and Masterminds (3e) Online | A World That Needs HeroesThe World That Needs Heroes There have always been great heroes in the world. From time immemorial, individuals were granted powers greater than any mortal should wield. Gilgamesh. Heracles. Cuchulain. Sun Wu Kong. The Hero Twins, Hunapu and Xbalanque. The list goes on. And they fought monsters, villains, and other heroes just as powerful: the Lernaean Hydra, the Humbaba, Enkidu who became Gilgamesh's closest friend and perhaps lover, and Cu Roi mac Daire amng so many others. In King Arthur's time, there was a surge in such things, with many of the knights having powers, like Gawain's great strength which rose until midday; Sir Marrok the werewolf, and many more. Throughout history, we've been told such things were myth. They were not. And in the late 19th and early 20th Century, a new age of heroes began, as magic started to rise once more. Early modern heroes included Doc Bronze, the perfect man, son of the man called Captain Nemo; Sgt. Savage, the first supersoldier; Paragon, the champion of light and righteousness. They faced foes like the immortal Dr. Umbros, still active today; the sinister scientists Victoria Frankenstein and Dr. Schadenfreud, and the monsters they made; and the machinations of the vile Gorgon Consortium. In World War 2, even more heroes arose: Major Courage, the Star Spangled Soldier; Ruka, the Russian Wall; Marzanna, the Polish Goddess of Cold; Bullet, the Supersonic Speedster; and Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot, the Camelot Three. They fought foes like the returned Dr. Schadenfreude and his creation, Sheuzel; and the Ubersoldaten of the Third Reich led by Blitzkrieg, a storm powered villainess so strong that even today she is unmatched, boasting the strength of Donnar. Amongst the Ubersoldaten were Heinrich von Skelt, a vampire; Iron Sights, the Sniper Who Never Missed; Artillery, the one man tank division; Totenkopf, the skull headed Harbinger of Death; HexenWulf, the Nazi Werewolf; and many enhanced 'Einherjar'. They also had to contend with the like of the sorcerer Mordred, the troll Grendel. In the Pacific, threats included the wind riding Kamikaze, the undetectable Kage, and Kairyu the Sea Dragon, son of the Dragon King himself. (Kairyu would later repent of his support of the Japanese Empire.) And now, in modern day, there are more super powered people than ever before. Theorists claim it is due to the rise of radiation and the like, but the magically minded claim it is simply the rise of the Sixth World, a return to ancient magic, and that all superpowers have the origins in magic and the divine. You are one such empowered being. Will you save this unhappy world? "Unhappy the land that breeds no hero.” “No, unhappy land that is in need of heroes”. -Berthold Brecht, Galileo

I think my one criticism of shadowdark's magic system is the whole "this is a priest spell, this is a wizard spell" thing.

Just make it intelligence and wisdom and call it a day. That makes it so you don't have to specify that new spellcasters cast a new version of the spell; they can just cast int or wis spells (or both!), and can add to the pool of spells for wizards and priests, too.

Its the only part of the whole spellcasting system that doesn't feel modular to me.

Does anyone have a list of open-licensed #ShadowdarkRPG stat blocks that prport to follow the official format to the letter?

I wanna throw a bunch of tests in here that are for things people would actually use, and I don't think the stat blocks in the book are openly licensed. (maybe some are? The ones in the quickstart guide?)

Here's a fun combination of hashtags: #SHadowdarkRPG #FSharp

I've got my stat block parser MOSTLY working. The only thing that doesn't seem to be working is the attack parser, and that makes sense; attacks are freaking complex compared to the rest of the stats, and the attack parsing functions make up a full 25% percent of the code.

Taking a side quest to figure out if you can parse #ShadowDarkRPG stat blocks with a simple parser.

I think the language is consistent enough to be modeled with a context-free grammar, though it may even be possible to build a regex for it (or some other regular language parser).

Taking attacks as an example, they come in a couple flavors:

1. a number, "weapon", a modifier and a die roll (this sometimes has an effect)
2. a number, "spell" and a modifier
3. a number and an ability

Okay, #ttrpg, I'm finally going to do it. I'm going to schedule my first StartPlaying one shot adventure. And it's going to be the one I've spent this last year building!

The best part: it's going to be using #ShadowdarkRPG instead of #Mausritter, despite the adventure being written for the latter!

Why? Because I can, that's why.

I'll throw up a link once I get it scheduled.
